Hi Kiwis! (hope it's ok to call you that as a non-native myself, check me otherwise )
Sounds like you guys are enjoying some beautiful weather down there! Unfortunately in the chilly U.S. writing this (more fortunately, specifically in Colorado though)
I've been really interested for the last year or so in traveling down to New Zealand, and maybe more as I've heard wonderful things, and the ImmigrationNewZealand emails are making me antsy! Just curious if any of you locals or experienced travelers of the area might have suggestions for someone generally clueless... Any knowledge of local arts scenes? Recommended areas for trails/backpacking (away from much other traffic), and if there are any unusual regulations to be aware of?

Hey=1em sorry to fall off the forum there for a while - hope you (or any other Boulder area listeners) might still be checking in! Once it started getting chilly on the front range, followed the sun west to play in the desert a few times. Thought this may be the year to finally try the skiing/snowboarding since i never managed to last year, but expensive is right, so the timing may not be : /
That section of the CT you were describing sounds really beautiful though! Definitely going to have to get the plan together and do that one when it's warming up again.
Since it's kinda between seasons now with these shorter, colder days and the snow not quite here, what've you been up to? Still around the area, I guess I'm assuming?

agreed... Boulder is a great place to bum around - that plus the hammock and bike, sounds like you'd make Uncle Chris proud! and yeah, if I'm gonna be settled in a specific area for a long term, this is such a beautiful place for it to be!
Been in Boulder-ish for about 5yrs now and still have never tried snowboarding or skiing (I know, shame on me!), but the snowshoes kept me hiking through the seasons : ) Especially since it's warmed up though, hitting the trails as very much as possible! running them unless I've got my pack on. Doing Marroon Bells for a few days coming up, but honestly haven't backpacked all that much locally - cool spot suggestions nearby?

Hi MoabMoreau... lucky you! love canyon country, and every bit of the natural area I've experienced around Moab seems infused with a certain weird magic quality. I really wish everyone could experience the sort of perspective shift that comes with feeling so positively small in space and time out there.

What is your parenting project about? Congrats on the success you mentioned! what does that mean for you? What kind of guide might you be when the project is complete?

well wishes from your CO neighbor : )

Hi gypsyboots : ) not sure if that meant you've just recently moved to CO, but if so, welcome!
front range is a super beautiful and fun place to be headquartered, and recognizing that with gratitude every day, even on the way to work is definitely part of my carpe diem. Other than that, spending as much time as possible out on the trails and in the sunshine wilderness!
Also currently in a process of professional (/personal) transition (I mean, that's perpetual right, but a more amplified state of it now, you know what I mean.) ... Chris and Duncan(DTFH) and their guests are great sources of inspiration. Focusing on the principle of -being here now- has been extra resonant lately, so doing what is possible in the moment to be well, happy, and shift closer to root values without wasting precious time and energy. I forget which recent episode it was on that Chris led with the quote from an unnamed poem - "Jump into the air to start with, and you will find wings you never knew." ('fortune favors the brave' was in there somewhere too, I think.)

And you? Where did you jump out to CO from and what inspired you to choose Denver? Besides such a leap, how are you living the carpe diem? Hope fortune has favored your bravery with that job/house situation.

Hi tribe,
checking in from the Boulder/Denver area! Love listening to Chris and all of his endlessly interesting friends/guests ramble on. definitely feeling some van envy lately, but trying like the rest of us to focus on that carpe fucking diem
: ) super grateful to Chris (and the rest of you!) for TS and all that branches off of it, including this new forum to foster the community. (thanks to Steve!)
